NABC DRAFTS from NEW ALBANY From deep within the confines of NABC’'s fabled garage brew house, Jesse Williams and Jared Williamson conjure 8-barrel batches of regulars, old favorites and new formulations. Check the chalk boards to see which beers currently are available among the many styles that Jesse and Jared are brewing this year, including Bob’s Old 15-B, Community Dark, Elector, Hoptimus, Flat Tyre and Mt. Lee. Sampler trays and carry-out growlers are available. An NABC fact sheet can be found atop the tables at the pizzeria and pub.

GUEST DRAFTS from FAR & WIDE Since 1992, nearly 800 different guest beers have been dispensed in the friendly confines of NABC’s public house and pizzeria. On a weekly basis, 25 or more are being served daily, including a half-dozen Belgian ales. Most microbrewed and imported draft beers are served in 20-oz “Imperial” pints. 10-oz pours are available. Belgian ales and high-gravity beers are served in 8-oz signature glasses and/or half-pint glasses, and some German beers in 1/2 liters. Pitchers are available, but not for all beers. Prices & daily specials are posted on the chalk boards.

The objective: Stock as many different beer styles as are available, including the world’s finest examples of the styles. The reality: It is very difficult to maintain such a list. Importers come and go, breweries are swallowed by multinationals, contractual agreements change, and America’s three-tiered system of distribution precludes direct action. There will be times when outages deplete the inventory. Remember to check the chalk boards for newly arrived bottles, specials and close-out deals. Bottles are 11.15 oz., 11.2 oz., 12 oz., or 12.7 oz. unless noted. An * indicates a beer new to the list (or, in some cases, returned to the list after an absence).

These are turbulent times in the beer biz, and wholesale price hikes no longer are confined to once yearly nudges. Accordingly, I can’t promise that prices herein will not change prior to the next list update, particularly for special order beers and irregular purchases. Changes will be posted on the blackboards.
